The Studio Bowe Archive: A History of Found Treasures

Welcome to the Archive - a visual library of Studio Bowe’s past collections, custom designs, and one-of-a-kind creations.

Because we work exclusively with rare vintage beads, deadstock components, and limited-run materials sourced by fashion stylist Bertie Bowen, many of our pieces are truly unrepeatable. Once they are gone, they move here to our permanent lookbook.

Explore the inspiration behind the designs, the history of the materials, and the Bowe Muses who wore them. While these exact treasures are no longer available on the active shop floor, they serve as a blueprint for our upcoming drops. See something you love? The Pee-Wee Collection

I've never seen beads like this before - unsure on the date or origin but they look handmade (ceramic I think) and definitely hand-painted.  Every single bead is unique.

The central bead is the most gorgeous little green face with red lips and curly hair... they look a little like one of my favourite childhood characters; Pee-wee Herman (thanks for the name Dad!)

I kept the design simple, teaming these intricate beads with huge, beautiful quality, fresh water pearls.

The Berlin Collection

The Birth of Studio Bowe

In 2020, everything shifted. Like so many others, my anxiety spiked during lockdown. Stuck at home and not getting dressed properly, my outlook suffered. On a whim, I ordered a simple beading kit. Adding a piece of fun, handcrafted jewellery to my comfy tracksuit gave me exactly the "edge" I was looking for.

Beading became my mindfulness. It was calming to create something with my hands and wear it immediately. I posted a photo of a chunky beaded necklace (the Maxi) on Instagram and suddenly had a list of 100 people asking for one!
